Hi Gary. Yes, the HD-100 records to tape or it can record to hard disk via the FW output. The issue with timecode is of synchronization. While you can get the cameras to record timecode it will be next to impossible to achieve synch unless the cameras can use a signal to run the same timecode. And I mean EXACTLY the same timecode. If you're off even just a few frames then it will be very time-consuming to adjust the edits. With the trick that I presented you can have all kind of cameras and you don't need to worry about cabling, synch signal, etc.
Good luck!

Hi! Paolo I am a digital film student at the art Institute of California, I have never worked with a multi camera shoot I have always used my HD100 by itself' but I will be doing multi camera shoots in the near future. My question is are these camera's recording to their own tape or source and are they all continually running during the take so that time code remains the same on all. Sorry if my questions a little redundant, but like I’ve said I have never done a multi camera shoot. Thanks in advance. Gary

Thanks so much for the tutorial. It really helped. More so, was the info about where to get pro charts especially the fiddle.

you rock

I forgot one thing.

With this setting "BLK Black P " (PRESS) you loose a lot of information in the dark regions.

Artur Śmiech from Poland is right - all colors switch to blue with this preset.
I did not get real white.
You have to change some color-settings.

Maybe you got good results while you're shooting with a light source.
Or you set the false color temperature.

Please use the automatic WB next time and try what happens with your preset. I make a bet it turns to blue.

But you're right with the sharpness and other "image-enhancing features".

Thank you so much for your response. I will try what you have suggested and report to you with my findings. On another note, I own a Canon XH A1 and I do not have that problem at all unless I am shooting on VERY LOW light.

I really like the GY-HD200 and the feel of a professional camera that it provides. It's just that the picture quality is questionable and frankly I am disappointed on the camera…

Hi Cameus.
There are many reasons for added noise in footage. First of all, do you see the noise from the RAW (.m2t) files or after some processing in your NLE? If it's in the main file then look at TrueColor and I suggest that you bump up the master black a couple of clicks. Try some more shots. Does the noise happen in "flat" areas of background? The most challenging spot for an HDV camera is a flat, dark background. Let us know your results.

Hello... I purchase my hd200 a couple of months ago, until this post i was getting discouraged with the camera cause i had so much noise on my footage even under good lighting ( especially in dark areas of the footage). I will try the true colorColor as my last resort. I own a CANON XH A1 and I don’t have this problem…I call JVC but to prevail.

Thank you so much for your hard work…
